P.S. I Miss You By Jen Petro-Roy
This novel, written in the form of letters, explores love, loss, sexuality, religion, and growing up through the lens of a twelve-year-old (Evie) writing letters to her older sister (Cilla). Evie's writing evolves through the book as she learns new elements of writing in her English class and becomes more complicated as her life becomes more complicated.
As you all probably know, it's not terribly difficult to make me cry. But, it has been a while since a book made me cry as much as this one did. Jen Petro-Roy (who has the cutest website in the entire world) does a fantastic job of helping her audience feel the emotions of her characters even through the single point of view of a sometimes unreliable narrator.
I don't know what else to say that won't spoil some of the best parts of this book, so I'll stop here by recommending that you read it. It's beautiful. It's moving. It's inspiring. Thinking about it this much is making cry again, so I'm going to wrap this up.
XO, Ellen
P.S. Thank you to Caroline for lending me this book <3
