The Espressologist by Kristina Springer
Yesterday I realized that I didn't have any short books that I would be able to finish in time for today's post, so I made an emergency trip to the library. Fortunately, they had just what I needed! I walked through over half the YA section (they're great books for holding your attention) before I found something short that sounded interesting after I read the synopsis and I am excited to tell you about it.
Jane is something of an Espressologist. Don't worry if you don't know what that is, she made it up herself. After months of working in her local coffee shop she has started to see how the personalities of the customers match their favorite drinks. And when she eventually saw that different drinks were compatible with each other her first match was made. Things quickly swing out of control as her manager insists that they use her Espressology as their December promotion and what started as a fun pastime during long shifts becomes the center of attention. But has Jane gotten in over her head? Or will she really be able to find everyones perfect match?
This book was absolutely lovely to read. It's such a fun concept. Reading this book felt a bit like sitting in a coffee shop, which also happens to be one of my favorite things to do. I generally opt for longer books, so I'm glad I started to fall behind so I could find this book that's one of my new favorites.
Some of the character development is a little rushed, but that's not surprising of a book with good character arcs in under 200 pages. And maybe this wouldn't be the most fun read if you don't know a lot about coffee. But it was a fast read, I read it in basically one sitting, and now I'm trying to find a way to buy it without going to Amazon (I will if I must, but I rather not) so I can read it whenever I want to.
Thank you all for your continued support, it has been so fun to see you over at our Instagram (@stereotypical_peaches)! And I can't wait to tell you about what I'm reading next!
XO, Ellen
