Christina Barr
Hello my friends! I apologize for the extended absence, I got super burned out on my October Catch Up adventure so I haven't been doing a lot of reading, which makes it difficult to post about the books I'm reading.
But I haven't completely stopped reading. I have been working through a Beta draft of Christina Barr's "The Empress" and I am obsessed so I'm going to tell y'all all about it.
Across the Globe there are colonies of inhuman queens, waiting to come into power and take over the Earth, as they feel is their right. In the first book of this series, "The Queen", we follow Rose as she tries to understand her powers and the people she will someday rule (link leads to the Amazon listing of the book, if the book sounds at all interesting please go buy it and support Christiana!).
In "The Empress", the book I am beta reading, we follow the Fifth Virgin Empress, one of ten sisters who must vie for their mothers affection so that they may be the one to inherit her power and take over the world. As they grow up on an island off the coast of South Korea the girls learn what the guardians think they will need to triumph over their sisters and become good rulers for the world. But, of course, nothing is ever as simple as it may seem.
Reading this beta has been so much fun and it has inspired me to pick up my own writing again, yay! I recommend you all read "The Queen" and watch out for when "The Empress" comes out, because it's sure to be great. Also check out Christina Barr's other books! Her writing is excellent so I'm sure they're all great reads.
