Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski

In Andrzej Sapkowski's novel "Blood of Elves" we enter the aftermath of war with the Nilfgaardians where Geralt of Rivia has taken in a ward, the surviving child of the queen of Cintra. But no one can know who she is or that she is alive. Because of this secrecy those that do know of her existence must fight to keep her safe from those that would use her for power. But even as they must keep her safe, they are caring for an inquisitive and talented young girl who constantly wants to know more. So as they care for her she grows into a powerful and capable young woman. But of course, everything is much more complicated than that.

As a lover of high fantasy, this book was awesome. There were some issues with the translation that would sometimes pull me out of the the story, but not enough to make the book unreadable. Some words just didn't feel quite right. But that's going to be the case with basically any translation and I think Danusia Stok did a really good job. My biggest struggle with getting into the story was that so many characters that seemed unrelated were introduced at beginning so it took a while for me to figure out who really mattered and what I should focus on. But as the book went on having all of that existing knowledge was really helpful. So if you start this book and have a hard time getting into it I would suggest giving it some time, it gets better as you go.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy. The chapters are really long (just 7 in a 400 page book) so if you struggle stopping in the middle of chapters this book may be a bit rough for you. But I'm excited to continue reading the series since I'm a person that likes to read the source material before I watch the show/movie and I really want to watch the Netflix series :)

P.S. I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much, I've been having a really hard time getting through books lately, but I think I'm starting to break out of that slump. Fingers crossed!

P.P.S. Thank you to my friend Colton for lending me this book!
