Bunny by Mona Awad

Samantha Heather Mackey is an outsider in her New England MFA program, especially in her writer's workshop, where she is stuck with a group of girls who call each other "Bunny" and too often speak as one. But when they invite her to a party at one of their homes, she unwittingly finds herself knocking on the door. Soon she is mixed up with the Bunnys, spending every spare moment at one of their mythical workshops or otherwise acting in complete opposition to how she was before. Mona Awad writes a stunning book suspended between reality and magic to the point that it feels uncertain what world you will be in when your eyes leave the page. Reminiscent of "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt, Awad tells a heartbreaking story of creation and loss and the lengths we will go to protect ourselves without ever realizing it.

This book was absolutely stunning and a joy to read. Mona Awad tells a breathtaking story that I wish I could experience for the first time over and over again. The magic of the novel felt natural and wonderfully enhanced the twists and turns of the story. Basically I really loved this book and I'm running out of fancy ways of saying that.

I would absolutely recommend this book, particularly if you like "The Secret History". Not that I don't recommend it otherwise, the two books just have very similar vibes and I want the fans of one to find the other. Plus, if you read it then I will have people in my life I can talk about it to and I would love that so much.

XO, Ellen

P.S. Please let me know if there are any bonkers sentences or typos in this post, I'm writing/posting this at 2am because I drank too much caffeine yesterday and can't sleep and I don't know what else to do with myself. Thanks, much love :)
