Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman
Some stories just don't lend themselves to summary, but I'm going to do my best. Eleanor Oliphant lives a perfectly ordinary life. She does the same thing every day and she is happy to continue doing so. As the reader it is clear that our narrator sees the world a little differently than most people, but the way she sees things is perfectly logical. And Eleanor likes things to be perfectly logical. But the world isn't always logical and as Eleanor's world starts to change is where the story begins. "Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine" is a story about acceptance in ways that are widely applicable past this book.
I absolutely adored this book. It was beautiful to read and difficult to put down. Gail Honeyman did an amazing job with this book and I cannot wait to see what she writes next. This book deals with some difficult topics relating to mental health and therapy and it is all handled beautifully and realistically. There were definitely moments that were hard to read, but that was because they were so true to life, which was spectacular.
I recommend this book wholeheartedly. I definitely cried reading it, and once I got into it I couldn't put it down. The unreliable narration by Eleanor is lovely and interesting and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
XO, Ellen
